This global automation/manufacturing giant was updating their branding and needed it extended into their digital ecosystem, with their expansive global platform setting the benchmark for the new direction.

We began by building strong, collaborative relationships with both the branding agency and ABB’s Digital UX Council. Then we developed a bold new visual concept for the rebrand, delivering a fresher, more contemporary digital expression.

The key updates implemented were an update to typography, an enhanced colour palette, a new image treatment, a new grid, expressed via newly designed interactions and updated layouts. 

I then led the visual design team in creating a comprehensive, connected design system, fulfilling both the needs of the client's brand team as well as their global division stakeholders. The system accelerated delivery through design-to-code automation, reduced development and QA effort, and significantly improved visual consistency. It also enabled a rapid reskin of the extensive catalogue of existing components that needed to be retained.

The numbers that have been gathered speak for themselves:

  • 40% improvment in content quality and consistency
  • 133% increase in lead generation
  • 40% growth in organic website traffic
  • 73% increase in file downloads.
